Description / Itinerary:
This 18 day cultural and game viewing safari takes you to four of the iconic destinations in Africa: spectacular Cape Town; the magnificent Victoria Falls; the astounding waterways of the Okavango Delta; and finally the arid desert of the Kalahari. And you will experience many amazing encounters along the way!
Day 1 Cape Town
On arrival in Cape Town transfer to your hotel, located at the popular V&A Waterfront.
Day 2 City Tour & Table Mountain
Discover the vibrant city of Cape Town on a half day City and Table Mountain tour (excludes cable car ticket and is weather permitting). This afternoon you will have time to explore the Waterfront, do some shopping and have a sundowner at one of the many restaurants and bars.
Day 3 Cape Highlights
This is a fantastic day touring the Cape, taking in the spectacular coastal scenery and stopping along the way at local towns.
Day 4 The Winelands
The Cape is renowned for its beautiful Winelands. Stellenbosch boasts some of the oldest and best in Africa – you will certainly enjoy the stops for wine tasting!
Day 5 Johannesburg
Today is relaxed as you head for Johannesburg. You will have ample time to wander around the Emperor’s Palace, seek out some excellent entertainment, have a flutter in the Casino or just window shop and people watch.
Day 6 Victoria Falls
This morning it is off to the mighty Victoria Falls and your hotel situated on the banks of the Zambezi River.
Days 7-8 The Falls & Sunset Cruise
During your stay, enjoy a tour of the famous Victoria Falls, a Boma dinner at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, a visit of the local markets and a leisurely sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.
Days 9-11 Chobe Botswana
Transfer by road to Chobe National Park for the next three days at Chobe Game Lodge where you will have one of the most impressive safari experiences in Africa. Chobe boasts one of the best locations from which to explore what is an incredible wildlife spectacle. This luxury 5-star lodge was designed to make the most of the river frontage. Wide verandas showcase views of the river in elegant comfort. And, every room has a balcony that faces the river!
Days 12-13 Savute Camp
Transfer to the Kasane airport then take your light aircraft flight to Savute Safari Lodge on the banks of the dry Savute channel. Game drives here are known for predator sightings and offer an historic and cultural side with the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills.
Days 14-15 Okavango Delta
It is a short flight to Tubu Tree Camp, located on Hunda Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta, the world’s largest inland delta. Game viewing in this famous wildlife sanctuary is done in a mokoro (seasonal), motorboat or on foot.
Days 16-17 Kalahari Plains
Travel by light aircraft to the Central Kalahari Plains Game Reserve for two nights at the amazing Kalahari Plains Tented Camp. Here you will have a final opportunity for some more spectacular game viewing and will also get to experience the culture of the local bushman.
Day 18 Depart
Sadly today your safari comes to an end. From the camp you fly to Maun for your onward flight.
